Periodontist

I was born in  New York City and lived there until I graduated from City college of New York. I then attended Dental School at the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia. After Dental School, I served in the Air Force at Travis Air Force Base in California. It was this experience that helped me make the decision to set my roots in Northern California. There was one last step to complete my  professional education, a two year Residency in Periodontics at Emory University in Atlanta.

I opened my Fairfield practice in 1976. At that time, I was only the second periodontist in the county and the only one between Vallejo and Sacramento. Now, there are over eight  periodontists practicing in Solano County. 

I have maintained my Air Force affiliation. Presently I'm a Colonel and Chief Administrator of Dental plans and programs at Reserve Headquarters Robins AFB Georgia. It's a long commute for training but a lovely place. I've also served at Travis , Hickam AFB in Hawaii and Fairchild AFB in Spokane.  One of my interesting duties was being the chairman of the Audio Visual department for the museum at Travis during its early years.

My hobbies include flying, travel, photography and computers. I live with three cats in a house that is almost 100 years old and I enjoy making repairs and remodeling.

I have always enjoyed sharing my knowledge with patients, friends and the public. I wrote a newspaper column about dentistry for 14 years. Click for Article Index

Barbara Watkins
Office Manager

Barbara joined our office staff in 1976 when we opened the office. She was my very first chair side assistant. After working in the back for twelve years Barbara moved to the front desk where she has excelled as my office manger. Barbara grew up in Washington DC and moved here with her family through an Air Force transfer. She trained as a dental assistant at Mohawk Community College in Rome NY. She supplemented this training with job experience as a Red Cross volunteer at Travis AFB before coming to work here. 

Her varied hobbies include avid reading, the movies and theater, her many friends and now "the grandchildren.  

Sarah Mendoza
Dental Assistant

Our newest employee, Sarah is a Fairfield native and graduate of Fairfield High. Sara trained at Western Career College in Sacramento. She worked in various offices in Fairfield and Vacaville before joining our staff in 2001.
