E-mail Policy
The internet is full of information, much of it good and some misleading. On my site I'll try to give you information regarding dental care. If you E-mail a question I'll try to answer it in 4 days. It is important for you to know a few things before you send questions so you can judge the information I offer and know how to evaluate it.
1. The internet is not secure or confidential. E-mailing me a question is not the same as talking to a demist in their office. Despite the best security and encryption e-mail can be intercepted and read by others.
2. I'll reserve the right to remove your e-mail address and post your question and the answer. Even if I don't post your question, remember the internet is not secure and others may gain access to your question.
3. I can give you information but I can't give you advice. A dentist can only legally practice in the states in which they're licensed. The giving of professional advice is the practice of dentistry. If you're located in a state where I'm not licensed I'd be breaking the law if I gave you advice.
4. The best information I can offer is not as good as what a dentist can develop while doing an examination. Internet information just can't substitute for a professional visit.
5. Your best source of information should be your own dentist.
6. This is an experiment. If I get swamped with questions I'll discontinue individual answers and post the most interesting one.
7.Remember I'm a periodontist, that's a gum specialist. Questions pertaining to my specialty will get the best answers. I'll defer to other specialists when appropriate.
